Historical, futuristic… complex, and a fast read – Amazon: 5 Stars
I liked this! Reads fast, uses some traditional sci-fi themes and techniques in a great way (virtual reality, artificial intelligence etc), but also often feels like a thriller. What I liked most was that there was a unique, subtle economic critique in here somehow. The author seems able to bring expertise and convincing detail to economic, political and even psychiatric issues. There’s a dystopian element that explores pitfalls in all of these things throughout, but meanwhile it’s still at the same time, a ghost story. A very unusual, well-conceived mix, punctuated with short, captivating chapters that read like distinct scenes. Would be a good movie. Kept my interest throughout!
